Kentucky Bourbon Dipping Sauce

Cincinnati shares a wonderful border with the state of Kentucky.  Every year, the first Saturday in May, celebrates the Kentucky Derby and it’s 152nd anniversary.  The KY Derby is the longest running sporting event in the USA.  Derby party’s abound and this simple bourbon sauce joins forces with our 60+ year craft sausage making tradition.

Ingredients

—5 Links: Queen City Sausage Bratwurst

—5 Links: Queen City Sausage Wicked Hot Smoked Sausage or favorite QCS sausage

—4 OZ KY Bourbon

—3/4 Cup Dark brown sugar

—1 Medium onion

—4 Cloves garlic

—1 TBLS Butter

—1/4 Cup Soy sauce

—2 TBLS Worcestershire sauce

—2 OZ Olive oil

Directions

  1. Brown the sausages in a non-stick skillet with olive oil.  Medium-low heat to brown.  Set aside, but time it to still be warm to use with the sauce

  2. Mince the garlic.  Grate the onion.  Set aside

  3. Combine the bourbon, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce and brown sugar

  4. Return to the non-stick skillet.  Melt the butter, add the garlic and onion.  Sauté for about 3 minutes.  Add the bourbon mixture

  5. Simmer to reduce excess liquid
